PennyPilot emerged from the rising demand for user-friendly, smart financial management tools in today's complex economic environment. We noticed that many individuals, particularly younger generations, face challenges with budgeting and financial planning. Our team identified a chance to utilize AI technology to develop a personal finance assistant that offers customized advice and support, making financial management easier and more efficient.
The Challenge
The Google Chrome Built-in AI Challenge was to develop a web application or Chrome Extension that uses one or more APIs to interact with Chrome’s built-in AI models. This was our chance to explore the capabilities of AI to create helpful experiences that meet everyday needs.

Realizing the power of AI in creating deeply personalized user experiences was key to designing a platform that dynamically adapts to users' changing financial circumstances. Simply put, asking the question of, "can AI do that?" helped push the boundaries of this design and functionality.
Applying my background in psychology and behavior, I learned to identify key patterns in user spending behavior to translate those into actionable insights. The project reinforced the importance of designing features - such as a financial expert buddy that hangs out with you while you're simply shopping online - that aligns with the intrinsic motivations to foster healthy financial habits.
